Frozen Embryo
Transfer (FET)
Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is a very
simple procedure and does not require anesthesia.
In cases where extra embryos are left for an IVF cycle, the couple
will have the option to freeze those embryos and later transfer them during
a natural cycle.
Some couples who conceive on their first attempt use their frozen
embryo to expand their family.
After freezing, embryos are stored in liquid nitrogen in special
tanks; proper care and an alarm system insure that the embryos remain
in their frozen state until they are thawed prior to transfer.
Approximately 70% of frozen embryos survive thawing and are
suitable for transfer. At PRC, our pregnancy rate using FET is over
40%. |
